I spent alot of time today compiling this list. Hey, it's a start.
If you know your serial number and what year your LeGrande was made, please post it on this thread and I'll put it on this list. Thanks all. Ron

I own a Lashley Legrande D-10 serial #503L according to the original owner it is a 1987 however from looking at your info page it could be a 1988. He did say that Jack strayhorn (i hope i got his name right) was involved with building the guitar if that helps.

Strange fact: Black guitars were delivered faster. Custom colors took longer. Since numbers went on them early in their production and then they sat around awhile, the sequential factor got altered. RP

LOL that's a funny fact since this guitar originally was red it very well could be a 1988 if it sat around

I have a white LeGrande D10, serial number 068L. It’s an SKH, short key head, with 4-hole bellcranks. Unfortunately, it came with no paperwork or provenance so I can’t document or prove the year it was made.
However, from your chart it does appear to be an ‘83.

Hi Ron I talked to the original owner of the guitar serial # 503L yesterday and he said he took possession of it between Christmas and New years in 1987. So I guess it is in fact a 1987

Hey all! All original and early LeGrande models were SKH.Later on they were almost primarily long key heads with standard size (push-pull) cabinet length. Circa 1990 one could order a SKH model. This happened during the Strayhorn(great guy) build era. He informed me that they had the key heads available and I ordered an SD-10 and a D-10 accordingly. Also,I brought a mica sample, the charcoal burl, which ended up a popular choice(too many black and rosewood guitars,haha!). Just a bit of additional Emmons history. Regards,RK

Re: serial number order, Jack Strayhorn has commented on this in numerous threads on SGF, including this quote that I had sent previously to Ron with a more precise explanation:

Re: cabinet length, it's actually the opposite. Early SKH LeGrandes had the same body dimensions as the PPs that preceded them, body length was 32 1/2". The short keyhead was used to compensate for the longer LG changer mechanism. Body length was increased to 33" on the later long keyhead LeGrandes.
