That is great news! They sure are beautiful instruments. I can't wait to see the photos of the mahogany ones. $600 extra for mahogany seems a bit steep, but hey, you only go around once. According to their price list an 8 string with mahogany body and legs would be about $2000. Any forum members want to chip in and we could pass it around?

Ah. Time sharing guitars. An idea whose time has come?
Now if you'll just get the number of strings I want, the tuning I like best, the color that turns me on, I'll be glad to ante up. I'm sure we could all agree on those trivial details? |

I spent a day with the Campbell Bros. last Wed. when they were in Wash, DC to play at the Library of Congress and the Kennedy Center. Darick Campbell was playing a Sierra Laptop 8-string on legs and sounding really good. It was equipped with a humbucker with a 5-position selector switch. I played it for a couple of minutes and really liked it. Wonderful, clean tone.
He says Sierra is building him a lap Top with a Stringmaster-type two pickup system and I believe he said it will be in mahogany.
By the way, Chuck is now playing a Sierra 12-string keyless pedal-steel.
Both concerts were a big success. After the Library of Congress concert I conducted a tape recorded interview with the whole band. The tapes were deposited in the LOC's American Folklife Center archives. History in the making.
Interesting times! |
