Glen Lanning passed away on May 9. He was an avid promother of steel guitar, having held several offices in our Mid-Atlantic Steel Guitar Association. He played steel for over 30 years with The Country Showmen in the house band at the New South in LaGrange, N.C. and for 20+ years in the Bethel United Methodist Church dinner theater, and with The Greene County Line Band at Hamstead Acres. Glen had suffered a stroke about three years ago, which ended his playing and had declining health since. I believe he was 85 years old. he was a true gentleman and I never head him say an unkind word about anyone. We miss him.
