Pulled from an early '70s Ovation K-6221-A 100-watt RMS bass cabinet. (Presumably the Danny Partridge signature model.) It's a big, heavy 15-incher with a massive magnet. Aside from the label, the only other marking is "155-2" stamped on the rear of the cone. Were they made by Ovation? If Kaman was capable of building military helicopters, loudspeakers should have been a piece of cake!

| Looks like a standard CTS design, stamped sheet metal frame, square magnet saw cut from sheet iron and attached with screws, probably paper surround integral with the cone. Designed solely to be fast and inexpensive to produce. A common OEM product in its day, rebranded in this case by Ovation. |

| I had also believed the Audient speakers resembled vintage CTSs, but I have never seen a CTS loudspeaker without the "137" EIA code stamped somewhere on its frame. But admittedly, I have not seen everything... |

There is most likely a production stamp under the label on the magnet, note the identical basket cutouts on this CTS speaker from a Fender amp, also that the Fender basket and magnet have been painted black.

Most likely your supposition that the label covers the code stamp is correct, Dave, but I'm not gonna try to lift the label to find out. These fifteens do indeed have the paper surround integral with the cone, and an aluminum dust cover to boot. Mystery solved? Quite likely; thanks!
