This position has been open for a while, after Henry Johns (superb player) decided to move onward.

Let me say this: Country Current is a world class bluegrass ensemble, all members are heavy hitters, some with extensive Nashville experience. Rhonda Vincent's daughter recently hired as a singer. I've met and played with some of these folks. I'm told it is the most requested of all military musical groups.

Any accomplished player of a relatively young age should consider this. It is a great job with great pay (for being a musician) and great benefits. You'll win an audition, enlist in the Navy, do your little basic training and play with Country Current for your life as long as you want, permanently in DC-never to have to transfer to another area.

I've had a 27 year career as a musician in a Capital area special band like this, and I couldn't be happier. Any questions or concerns about this kind of life, just reply or even PM me about it. This band does great but even better with a good steel player in it.

I was in a bluegrass jam just yesterday with a few members of Country Current in attendance and chatting about the steel opening.

I've known a handful of members over the years including 2 of the former unit chiefs. It is the BEST gig a musician could hope for. The benefits are outstanding and you'd playing for folks like me, presidents and foreign dignitaries.

It's quite the the gig.

If you can pass muster. I know they've gradually raised the age for the steel position. They REALLY, really want a pedal steel player again!!
