I just seen a concert at River City Casino in St Louis and I believe our own Tyler Hall was playing his Emmons D10 and some wicked slide on an electric telecaster body set up like the Melobar slide, plus some Dobro. Fine job from Tyler and the band. Josh puts on a great show.

I have the utmost respect for Tyler and his abilities. He's an outstanding player.

I agree totally Larry....sorry I didn't bump into you.

Josh Turner's current "Greatest Hits Tour" and set list is a highly refined well-oiled machine...."no lags - no sags."
All instrumentalists are top notch - many of them switching between multiple instruments during the show - and contributing fantastic vocal harmonies.

I was fortunate to again catch up with with Tyler Hall both before and after the show.
Tyler was using his '67 Emmons D10 Rosewood Bolt-On.
That Dobro is a Fluger electric model....hadn't seen one of those before.
All instrumentation was wireless to the Sound Board....great tone by all

And did I mention Josh's

W

Voice ? ! ! !

My experience a couple of months ago when Joe Rogers invited me to a Tracy Byrd gig was similar.

I came away inspired by how good everyone - and their sound-guy was on a level with the whole ensemble.

I had never given Tracy Byrd his due. He's had a lot of hits! Not all of them to my taste, but it's quite something when you can fill 80 minutes with your own successes.

Or, maybe, the contrast between Joe, Chad and the band was so marked after the somewhat questionable support band, that my judgment was flawed. I don't think so, though. All around professionalism and musicality and it brought it home to me how much I've missed playing with musicians of such calibre.

I like Josh Turner! I particularly enjoyed that TV show he recorded with Randy Travis! Two exceptional vocalists.

Roger, I haven't seen Tracy live but I have covered some of his material in our band over the years. No doubt a polished act.
Ron, good on you to make the show. My wife is a big fan of Josh Turner and of course I like Tyler Hall. I seldom go to major artists shows because the sound man doesn't care about the db level of bass blasting the audience. Yes it was smooth and professional with top caliber musicians. Josh is a great singer with excellent stage persona. I'm not crazy about Ticketmaster and using your phone with a bar code at the gate. We had good seats in center 12 rows back. Cool that you got to do a before and after show visit with Tyler. I appreciate the sound info because I seen the in ears so I figured they went direct. I'm sorry we didn't connect at the show.

Larry

Joe Rogers suggested I bring my in-ears so I could try out his Rittenberry. They're strictly IEMs, so of course he has no amp in the normal sense.

I did as he said, but 'trying his steel' was a non-starter - his 'Emmons' vs. my 'Day' was just the beginning! Everything else was different too. Es on the right, 9th-lower on the left....

I was a fish out of water. Great-sounding guitar, though, and it was good to chat before and after the show.

Roger that's mighty nice of Joe to give you that opportunity. It's always a different setup. I played a couple different times on other guys steels and it's never been favorable.

Larry

Maybe he wanted to see me squirm! Smile

Seriously, it's a very impressive guitar and sounds wonderful: shimmering highs.

I've wanted a Ritt D10 ever since.
