Can anyone please help, is it really necessary to have two separate pull rods on a pull release system to lower and raise the two E.s?

The reason i asked, is i have, (or should i say) i did have two separate pull rods on my E,s up and lowers but unfortunately the changer finger broke, on the eight string lower and to repair it would mean a complete
strip down of the changer. So that is why i asked the experts if one pull rod could be used. Thanks in advance..

Cheers ...JG...
