Hey Bob,
Have you checked the live album (on MCA, I think) that she did at the height of her TV fame? I know she did a live routine back then where she played multiple instruments, including steel, during one song. Don't know if that was included on that album.
The great Mike "Cookie" Jones was her steel player then, of course.
Appreciate all the country music history stuff (steel and otherwise) that you do! |

| With her starting out as a steel player, I was always surprised that the steel wasn't more evident on her records. The only one I recall where the steel really stood out was her mid 70s hit, "Standing Room Only",and that was some really wonderful playing. (John Hughey?) |

There were a couple different versions of tuning-changers that were available in the '40s and '50s. This may be one that was custom made by Wright, or a factory one that was modified for her guitar. I first saw one in an old Ed Sale catalog, and later on several Carvin steels in their catalogs.
