Since I've started my Pedal Steel journey, I have purchased a number of teaching materials. Online lessons, books, videos, youtube tutorials.

But interestingly, I've found Anthology of Pedal Steel to be the most helpful to a new player. What a great book.

What a great book.

People love the Winnie Winston book too because it's cool and has all those photos of the steel greats scattered throughout-- but photos aside, from teaching standpoint, the Anthology is laid out a little more logically and the tab examples are better at teaching their intended concept. Even Winston said the tabbed song selections in his book were probably too difficult for rank beginners...

As someone who still struggles to play them, I'm so glad you said that.

Scotty's first Anthology was my go to when I was learning.
Our daughter just started playing and she has it too!
