I live in the woods alongside wetlands. My first spring here, 2017, I discovered that my yard was a nesting ground for painted, snapper, spotted, and most special, wood turtles. I watch them dig nests & lay eggs. Dozens of turtles each year. My life here has been filled with awe. I call this place Turtletown.
It was the wood turtle that inspired me to get my first and only ink.
I saw another recent Sierra with a great inlay in that same spot (although mine is bigger because I eliminated frets 25 & 26 --- I'll sound an alarm the first time I run into trouble because I'm missing those two lines) and it flashed on me that nothing could be more personalized than having the turtle there. The inlay does not particularly resemble the tattoo as I'd hoped and that was the communication error...and it takes two to communicate so I've got myself to blame. However the inlay does do interpretive justice to the wood turtle and I am glad to have it.
