Hi, I'm a pro musician based in Tamworth, Australia. I have a JEM 10 string steel that was built by my dad John Minson. It's a beautiful instrument and plays great. It has a wooden neck and I would love to fit an aluminium neck to it. It has a 24" scale length and the neck is 21" long. Is there anyone that sells DIY parts who might be able to help me with this? Thanks, Lawrie

Lawrie, personally I would leave that neck alone. You'll gain nothing by putting an aluminum neck on that guitar. The details that your dad put into that guitar are quite nice such as the inlays and the recessed areas to fit the endplates flush with the face of the cabinet.
I can see that he was very detail oriented and he did a good job on everything that I can see in that picture.

I'm thinking that your reasoning for replacing the neck is due to the fret markers having flaked off on the front edge but I just zoomed up on them and can see that they are actually tape pieces to make positions.

I'd really leave it as is and enjoy it if it plays as good as it looks.

Michael
