I'm curious to which speaker came in the Session 500 amps?
If anyone can shine some light on what this is, it would be greatly appreciated.

That is a Super Structure magnet Peavey Black Widow model #1501-4 SB. 1501 being the model #, 4 being the ohms rating and SB denoting short basket.
There have been a few versions of this speaker, but any of them will work just fine even all the way back to the original flat magnet Black Label Spider Web version of the same speaker.
They also built a DT version of the same speaker which denotes Deep Throw basket which is a longer basket/cone.
Most players prefer the SB version though.
Now, some of the early Session amps had a 1502-4 speaker which has a ribbed cone...can't really tell from your pic if that is or not. These are almost impossible to find in the original style and they are now primarily used for PA use.
Later versions are not the same.
The way to i.d. a Black Widow speaker is to find the little white tag by the speaker terminals. Hard to see installed in the amp though. Mirror works best.

This is another one I have. It's labeled 1501 4 ohm but looks significantly different than the other.

Different, later version magnet known as large port. I can see this one has a smooth cone so if your first pic is also a smooth cone v. ribbed, they are basically the same speaker.
The large port update may offer just a little higher power rating but at 300 W plus, there's plenty either way. |

I have these that I'm going to swap out and see the difference between the two. I also and an Eminence Paul Franklin on the way and in the hunt for a JBL D130F when the time comes. |
