Someone on here many years ago posted a picture of Curly playing standard guitar in a hotel lounge band while in town for a concert gig.

I remember hearing years ago that Curly was a pretty good trumpet player too.

He played trumpet and steel on at least one of the old Merle Travis records--switched back and forth on the same tunes. And yeah, he wasn't too shabby!

I remember back in 1980 at the Jeffran College , Jeff telling his story of "Trial by Fire" his first gig at the black poodle club in nashville.

He said he got to the club to play a gig and there was Curly on guitar and Buddy Emmons on bass.
