I’m one year into learning c6 on my own. I am able to play over traditional country/swing tunes fairly well for a beginner to the tuning, but when I hear players like Jim Murphy or Curly Chalker…you know the rest. Listening to Buddy Emmons got me into c6, and I created a bad habit out of it! I can solo over a jazz blues as well as some standards (think king of the road or a basic 145, 1625), but my chord theory is seriously lacking. As of today, I have incorporated strictly rhythm practice into my daily woodshed—no leads.
Any decent resources for some practical chord inversions? I’ll figure out 9, 11, 13 chords as I go, and I have found some out already. I’ve been using pedals 5+6 for some cool 7th chord/dim passages, 7+8 together and independently, but I’m lacking the basics. For example, I only know C major chord open, fret 12, pedal 6 G position, G position strings 6, 7, 8, 9 (CM7), and F position strings 1, 3, 5 with RKL engaged.
I play an 8x4 Emmons D10 and love the tuning! Any help is appreciated. _________________ 1973 Emmons “fatback” D10

Well how about the F position , P7, strings 3 4 5 for another C triad inversion (same notes as the string 1 3 5 with 3 lowered you mentioned, but strummable). |
