This may get moved to electronics, but does anyone have experience with these lipstick pickups? I see they were used on 8 string Morrell guitars. Some say they don't sense the outside strings which makes sense since they were designed for 6.

After dong a bit more research, I will probably skip.... I am still curious cause have never played these. I might try a J bass pickup instead.

You might look for a j bass pickup with blades(s) so you don’t have to worry about lining up the individual pole pieces with the lap steel string spacing.

Thought this thread was about a song titled LIPSTICK ON A LAPSTEEL.

Maybe...

I MET HER A GIG
SHE WAS SO GOOD LOOKIN'
I SAID, "HEY HEY DARLING
WHAT'S YA GOT COOKIN'?"

BUT TO MY DISMAY
SHE JUST WANTED TO BE FRIENDS
SAME OL' THING
BUT THAT AIN'T WHERE THE STORY ENDS

SHE WASN'T INTO ME
YEAH, I FELL HEAD OVER HEELS
UNTIL THAT DAY I FOUND
LIPSTICK ON MY LAPSTEEL

Chorus:

SHE WAS JUST USING ME
OH HOW COULD THIS BE REAL
THAT WOMAN JUST WANTED
MY LAPSTEEL

---------------------

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I found a few that look interesting on Ebay.
