I'm a little late for Christmas with this one... but Elvis is good any time of the year!

C6 tuning. The basic melody here, no frills or improv in this one.
I have tab for this in my "25 Songs" Lap Steel song book (see the link below). The tab is similar to what I'm playing here, but not exactly the same. I wrote the tab 14 years ago (hard to believe!) and I guess I've modified my style somewhat over the years, as we all do. Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year.

Thanks Carl! I just missed seeing Elvis in '77. I was driving past the Civic Center when people were lining up to buy Elvis tickets, but I couldn't stop. Dang day job!

We think of this as an Elvis song, but it was first recorded by Deye O'Dell in 1948. His original had different lyrics in verse 2 and a couple of chord changes that are not in the Elvis version.
There is also a steel and a fiddle on his recording: https://youtu.be/2TK-iwH7-Ww

Hi Manny, I don't have any steel gigs over your way this year, as of now. The closest gig is Uxbridge, April 7, but I'm playing guitar that day, not steel.
I've decided to cut back this year. The past five years I've been playing with a young band here in western Mass, 70 to 90 gigs a year, and the aches and pains of aging are starting to catch up with me. Smile I get more satisfaction from making and posting videos than playing out nowadays. Have a great 2024!

Thanks Joe, yes, this old Gibson has a very strong pickup. It's basically a pre-P-90. The guitar has a gritty tone, sometimes too gritty! Smile
