Has anyone here removed the pad on a GFI Ultra? Mine has picked up some damage and I plan to repair it with a new cover. Removal looks straight forward and simple, but looks can be deceiving. _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |

take out the flat head screws in the back rail and center rail. Some may be hard to get because of cross shafts. Other then that, it will lift out. |

I own 2 GFI S12 guitars, Never worked on a double neck.
GFI uses large round headed phillips screws to attach the Changer, Nut Roller Assembly and Keyed or keyless heads to the body of the guitar.
Its a SWAG that they use the same large large round head phillips screws for the pad. Check if there is a pattern of large phillips screws that matches the foot print of the pad on the back deck section.
Just a suggestion, When I make a pad for a guitar, I put a bar holder at the key head end of the pad. Sure saves a lot of dings on a guitar, Not just laying the bar somewhere on the guitar.
Here is a picture of a 12 key head MSA that would hold a steel bar and a plastic do-bro bar at one time. |
