Ron played our show in Wisconsin several times, and also the Iowa show. He was the only player I ever met that could have you laughing your butt off one minute during a tune, and have tears streaming down your cheeks on the next one. He was just that good.

| One of the best guitars I’ve ever owned was Ron’s “Golden Eagle “ EMCI that he played on the 1990 Superjam. I called Mr. Elliot after I got for info and although we were strangers he treated me like an old friend. I talked to him several times after that just for the fun of it. His sense of humor was prominent and the stories were as great as his playing. Sadly another hero leaves ours for a better world. R I P Ron |

I'm sorry to hear that Ron has left us. He was such a great guy and player. I first met him back when he was playing for Jack Greene and Jeanie Seeley. That was some 50 years ago.
Like Billy said, Ron has left this place for one that's much better. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out for all his family and friends.

I first met Ron at the SC steel show in Saluda. He always played the May show when he came. We talked about his service in the USAF and my service in USN submarines.
He was always so smooth. He played a patriotic song every set and a gospel song, his trademark.
A year later after meeting him, I walked into the SC show and walked up to him and he remembered my name and our conversation. I know that he had met a lot of people in that year and I wasn't the most prominent, but he had remembered!
A stand up guy. He will be missed. RIP Ron from the submarine force.

Sorry to hear this sad news. Ron was a friend of mine for many years.
He had a great sense of humor and was so nice. He was Mr. Steel Guitar Smooth, and his playing was just spot on.
Prayers and our condolences to his wife Leslie and all of the family and his many friends!

Awwwww, Ron is Gone.
When I visited with Buddy, Ron would often be there. They would often drink Hot Damn", a cinnamon schnapps concoction. They were best friends and Ron NEVER missed an opportunity to crack a joke.
Always the flag bearer at Scotty's.

| I only met Ron once, it was at Scotty's. He was such a smooth player, his Gospel album IS mandatory listening for me. He was such a fine player with heart & soul. For those who have never heard Ron play, you owe it to yourself to hear him.... Thank You Ron for giving us such wonderful steel guitar music. |

| Ron told me the story of how he jumped in a swimming pool to save Stonewall Jackson's life. Stonewall had dove into the pool wearing his vest of silver dollars and couldn't swim, after he had taunted the band for not getting in the water. |

For of of you folks; that do not know Ron Elliot...He WAS one of the Greatest SG players. And he was also; a "Tell a Story Galore"! Wow! And they were ALL "funny'. Wow! I couldn't wait to hear another story, from him. And one day in St louis; a few of us; were out of the hall. And Ron walked over; and told us the "Damnedest Funny Story", I've ever heard... Whoa! Laughing Rolling Eyes
Now, I don't remember (exactly) what he said Laughing But, I will do the best i can! It was about Hank Williams; and the Hank's Band. Where, they went all over, after he died! To keep Hank's Singing Up. Thus, they went every where; for years playing Hank's "Classics". And the fans went crazy over them!
Well, one night, Don Helms (SG player) was driving their Bus. And, they were in Texas; 3 O'clock in the morning. And the Bus needed gas. So Don pulled off to a Gasoline Station. And he went out; and got an "old" man to "Fill it Up!". So, Don was smoking his cigarette. And that old man said...
"ER YE a Grupe?". And Don said, "What?". And the old man said, "A Grupe, A grupe of men playing instruments"???". Of Course, Don said, "Oh yes, we are the band of Hank Williams. And we go all over the world. To Keep Hank up top!"!
Now...are YE ready for this? Huh? Well, that old man said this to Don, "B..L-S..T!" he was Mad. and said, "Ya'll aint; no band of Hank Williams. Now, get into the store, and pay!!!! Mad Mad He was really mad; thinking Don Lied!
And we laughed for 20 minutes; when Ron told us that. But you need to be there; when Ron tells stories. And most of us loved him! And may Jesus, rest Ron's and Don's Precious Soul. Amen!

Amen! Jimmy, don't I know you   Are you the person that came to my Convention in 1977-78 Huh If so, I am honored; for you to view my posts. And thanks for what you did on that stage.
