Hey,
Been really enjoying my GFI Ultra S-10 3x4. Sounds terrific, great weight. But one thing I miss is having a LKV to drop the 5th string. I see you can buy the kit from GFI for $275......but how difficult is it to install? Should I just factor in having someone install it for me?
Thanks! - Jim |

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. What I can tell you is that the GFI is an easy guitar to work on with no special tools or skills required, and the customer support is excellent _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Jim, it’s really quite easy. I did it on mine. Happy to send you some pics of my install and instructions tomorrow or talk you through it if you get the kit. |

The GFI knee levers being self contained with beginning stop and pull stop right in the knee lever itself is unique. No need for a direction changer. Just rearrange the pull from top to bottom or bottom to top and it can be made a left, right or vertical knee lever.
If you have a knee lever not in use, You can rearrange it and make a vertical knee lever out of it.
I bought a GFI S12 set up Extended E9th. I changed it to a S12 Universal. I changed the LKR to a LKV and it works good, Need to add a block of something to the lever to make it a little easier to employ.
Sorry I can not get pictures to upload today. If you search the forum I put it on another GFI Knee Lever post. |

If you want to have the LKR stow under the LKV you can put a spring on the LKV to allow it to be raised so the LKR lever can drop in underneath. I hooked the spring onto a flat-head screw that occupies the hole where the now-unneccessary setscrew used to be. The bottom of the spring hooks onto a convenient pull rod. The spring holds the lever in playing position except when you pull it out to stow or release the LKR.
