Topic: Top selling new Modern steel guitars |

I would like some opinions about what people think the best brand guitar when it comes to smooth playability, good sustain band stays in tune always, no noticeable cabinet drop, precision mechanics, most durable and resistant to wear parts,
So of all these factors to consider, which is the better guitar of the bunch and number 1 to 7
1. Mullen
2. Jackson
3. GFI
4. Show-Pro
5. Rittenbury (not sure if these are still being made)
6. Emmons resound65

| Have had a Mullen for several years and it is my go to guitar. Have never had an issue with it. Also have a Justice. No problems there either. Would recommend either. |

All of those are wonderful guitars. Selection would depend much more on personal taste (and bank account) than a difference in quality or playability.
Derek Puckett is currently actively producing Rittenberries. (Not sure about that plural!). I love mine, but wouldn’t pretend it’s clearly better than any of your other choices.
You left Williams off the list. They’re certainly worth a look. And Justice. |

I play a Jackson BlackJack Custom, and it's the best steel I've ever played! I played a GFI for five years, but after being able to try out a Jackson in 2009, I decided I really loved the sound, looks, and tone of the Jackson Steel, so after trying out the Jackson Madison '63 in '09, I got in touch with David and Harry Jackson in 2010 and they built my Jackson Blackjack Custom in April 2010-the steel was built on April 20,2010 and I got it on April 24th, 2010, and it's my main pedal steel. It's been with me for almost fourteen years, and it's a wonderful steel guitar!

+1 for Williams. Excel ticks all the boxes too.
Are there actually any guitars being made these days that don't?

I enjoyed playing them all ended up with Excels..

| I also played an Emmons GS-10 when I started playing and I loved it-this was before the GFI and Jackson came along. The Emmons GS-10 was my first steel. Before I bought the red and gold GFI in '04, I was not really sure about GFI guitars because I thought they were too small, but when I played the GFI, it sounded wonderful, but in '09, I found the steel with the tone I really love, the Jackson! |

you won’t go wrong with any of those , all fantastic instruments, with Emmons 65 being an push pull , and priced much higher then the rest of them , but if that’s your cup of tea go for it by all means…

I have a Jackson S10 3K an it works better than anything I have ever played. Solid and true tuning.

Just for the fun of it, here is my top 5 selling guitars being made today in order. I’m basing this only on guitars I see being played and this is only my opinion based on what I see at conventions, shows and on stage. The last 3 being in gray area because don’t see that many being played but think the Emmons is gaining ground.
1. Mullen
2. MSA
3. Rittenberry
4. Emmons Resound
5. Sho Pro/ Williams. (Tied in my mind)

I had several Sho-Buds, a Blanton and a MSA.. the Excel was much lighter to gig with and the tone is great.. I put a Telonics PU in it to replace the single coil.. they are very easy to work on, I added 4 levers. The first one a 2000 I got from Doug Seymour, Bobbe’s brother..that sold me..
