I've forgotten the exact number. I think I have that info somewhere just can't put my hands on it.

It was just over 500 starting in 1989 for about 20 yrs. until his passing in 2009. Bobby Callaway finished up the remaining 4 or 5 under construction.

Several Derby steels were played by steel players in bands with a lot of great artists in country music-a few examples are Robbie Flint, who played steel in Alan Jackson's band, the Strayhorns, Troy Klontz-former steel player with Brooks & Dunn, Gary Carter-former steel player with Faith Hill and Connie Smith, Monte Good-former steel player with John Michael Montgomery, Terry Crisp played a Derby with Reba in the nineties then played a Derby with Joe Nichols, and Tommy White played a blue Derby in the Grand Ole Opry staff band, and Lynn Owsley plays a Derby-he was part of the Texas Troubadors at one time and appears in the Coal Miner's Daughter movie-he plays a Derby, also another Derby player was Marc Muller, who had played steel in Shania's band for a few years

Mine is 0140 . Its over 20 years old and never had a problem. I have had to change out a few of the tuners but other than that its been a jewel.

I bought a SD10 3X5 used a few years ago and it quickly became my favorite guitar. Stays in tune, plays great and sounds awesome. I wanted an extra pedal but I'm happy with it as is.
