I've long baked Cs to C# into my C6th playing to the point that I use it far more than any other knee lever on that neck. I use it both for passing chords and a variety of single note runs. It isn't exactly a standard change though.

I'm curious, what are other non-standard changes on either neck that you have or have had that you've found yourself using consistently?

Chris, I assume you mean the 3rd string. Is it non-standard? Even if you only have two levers, surely that would be the second one. Buddy Emmons advised it especially if you tune the 1st string to D.

As for string 7, I have that C# on a vertical lever to save having to go for P8 every time.

I play a Bb6 12 string, so this change is on my 7th string, your 5th string, LKR lowers it a whole step with a feel stop lowering it 1/2 step. Couldn’t live without it - it’s not an uncommon change, but definitely not on every 6th guitar.

On my C6 S-10 PP (6p/4k), p.1 raises s.10 C-D, yielding a Dm11 chord to the tuning.

After p.1, the following pedals/knees C6 tuning remains the same as Buddy's 5p/4k tuning.

I remember reading somewhere that Buddy had to finalise that setup under some pressure of time, which makes it all the more remarkable how well it's stood the test.

I have 2 that aren't in common use-

I play s10/E9... However, my second string is not an Eb.. Its an E, unison with the 4th string.. I lower it to D in 2 steps. E-Eb-D... I find I use the unison E 10 times more than I ever used the drop to c# thats standard.. I used that string constantly, and use it with both lowered notes a LOT,,,

also, I lower the string 6 a full tone, by itself on pedal 4, and have for about 47 years.. Most guys put this on a lever, but its just so much faster and more articulate on pedal 4.. Its been a mainstay for me for my entire steel playing career.. At times, I have used it in conjunction with a b full tone lower, as a sort of split "Franklin pull".. Never cared much for that change on a single pedal/ lever, but liked it a lot when split in that manner.. That pedal 4 G#-F# is used by me more than any change I have except for the A&B pedals and my E-Eb lever..

On my Carter's extended E 9 setup, I have a zero-pedal to the left of A pedal. It flats the G#s to Gs.

So in "root position", say, G on the 3rd fret, the pedal results in a G minor chord--and that's also a C7 / C9 chord.
