I have an old copy of circa early 1960s "Country Music World and Yearbook. Following are two pics from it that I'd like to see if I could get some positive id's.
First one, whos on the steel with Johnny Wright and Co?

Next, I can't remember for sure, but is this the Gary Carter that we all know and love today, with the young group?

Thanks for the help!

I’m pretty sure that’s George Edwards with Johnny Wright. He played with Kitty Wells and Johnny Wright for over 30 years. I met him backstage at a Kitty & Johnny show way back in 1982.

Yes, that's the same Gary Carter that played for Randy Travis, Faith Hill, Mel and Pam Tillis, and up until recently, for Marty and Connie. Now, about all he does is session work out of his home studio, which keeps him quite busy.

(That's his sister Cheryl and brother Jimmy in the photo.)

Thanks guys, I was sure that was George Edwards as well, I saw the Kitty Wells Show about 40 years ago, and got to meet him, but I wanted to confirm.
I think there was a previous post on the forum here about the Carter kids, they were pretty good!

Yes, that Carter boy could hop around like a jack rabbit when playing that double neck guitar.

Hey Erv, you're thinking of Larry Collins. He and his sister preformed as the Collins Kids, and you are correct about the jumping, dancing, duck walking, sliding and playing behind his back, Larry was the king. His sister dated Ricky Nelson. There are plenty of videos on YouTube.

Jim,
On that show out of California, what was the name of the gal who played steel.
She didn't sit when she played or stood up, she had a high stool and sat on.
She was a good steel player, all the players on that program were excellent players.

Hi Erv, the show was called Town Hall Party and I believe her name was Patty Woods. I can't find any information on her, but the show lists her name as being part of the house band and she's the only woman mentioned.

Jim,
It wasn't Patty Woods, it was Marian Hall.
I just did a internet search. Very Happy

Patty Woods was one of the singers, according to this site: http://www.hillbilly-music.com/programs/story/index.php?prog=170

Marian was a great lady. And when I was just coming up in the LA club scene, Marian would occasionally show up to say hello to the bandleader, Herschel Witt. She was still very attractive, and always very friendly.

There's lots of anecdotes from Marion Hall in Andy Babiuk's biography of PA Bigsby. Ms. Hall was an excellent early pedal steel player with a most wonderful smile.
