Only following the directions is the sellers description http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=898715696

Gotta love somebody with that much faith in somebody else out there having more money than sense.

I'm glad he used my web site to help identify the guitar. I hope he'll take a look at the 2002 Vintage Guitar Price Guide when he relists this guitar, or if he becomes serious about selling it. From what I can tell, even if it were in excellent condition, he's about $7000 over the top price for a squareneck National Style 1 or 2.

He asked for it all right, but sanity seems to have prevailed.

At least for now, that is -- the latest madness is this "1940 Rickenbacker 'Eletro'" for $1,200. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=900328051

I think it's actually a 1948 Model NS ... that might be worth $1,200 if the body was stuffed with $5 bills instead of old newspapers.

To top it off, the seller says, "Needless to say, this is a vintage instrument and it will not be shipped. I just don't trust any package company with this gem." (Oh, now I get it! Maybe the $1,200 includes an airline ticket so the buyer can come pick it up.)

There must be a full moon over eBay right now --

If he's not going to ship it, then he must be planning on using the $1200 to buy an airplane ticket to wherever the winning bidder is so he can deliver it by hand.

Incredible...
