It's Carol Johnson. Iris DeMent was 11 in 1972.

not to hijack this thread, thanks Donny for reminding me of Iris Dement. I looked up a couple of you tubes that I hadn't thought of in years.

I became an instant fan of Iris Dement when we were at a taping of the American Music Shop show at Vanderbilt in 1992. They scanned the audience right after she played, and there I am in the Supro shirt, with my wife to my left at 15:04 - https://youtu.be/ocDMOwtAWxs?t=900. That was an excellent show, with Hal Ketchum and John Hiatt also playing. AMS was, IMO, one of the best TV music series ever made. We made a point to go to those tapings whenever we were in town.

Funny - that show seems like a half a lifetime ago for me, and in fact, it's not very far from that.

Yes I loved that show David. Best music I ever seen on tv. Wasn't those aired on TNN? I watched that channel until it was no more.
