It's been about 6 months since I started building my "Stringmesster".I just got it back from the repair guy yesterday,he routed and instaled my Duncan 8 string p/u's and a blend pot.And seeing as how I've never played a "Stringmaster",I'm ignorant as far as what a blend does.I figured it's like a balance knob on a stereo. But mine seems to leave the bridge p/u on and blend in the neck p/u.Does anybody else's do that. Of course it would help if I had a bridge,a nut, tuning machines and strings, but one thing at a time. Why do you think I call it a Stringmesster?

Hi Tom,
My stringmaster has the blend wheel. It works like a Tele pickup selector: bridge-both-neck pickup, but with all the variations in between. You should be able to select one pickup alone, or both "blended" to your favorite mix. I think its a great feature and I wish more guitars had it. Of course, pots being what they are kind of answers that question.

According to the Seymour Duncan schematic (on their website), and the Stringmaster I borrowed recently, the blend wheel is supposed to add the 'neck' pickup into the bridge pickup, in series, just like yours does.
Tony.

It does indeed blend the neck pickup into the bridge pickup which is always full on.My favorite setting on my D-8 is about 25% neck pickup and 75% bridge.I pluck one of the lower strings as I roll the blend pot back and forth until it has just the right combination of sweet fatness and that hollow Fender twang.I also turn the volume and tone pots full up and get my EQ from the amp(Session 400).On my tone control,I've installed a push/push switching pot w/the latch spring removed and the switch shorted to ground - providing the guitar w/a momentary on/off switch for that Speedy West stuff. A Fender tone/volume pedal completes the ultimate non-pedal hillbilly/swing/Hawaiian rig,IMHO. -MJ-
