I read yesterday that Jan Visser of The Netherlands passed away on June 6that the age of 80. A huge loss for the steel guitar community. Jan was one of the first pedal steel guitarists in The Netherlands, was a teacher and supplier of steel guitars and accessories, for many years about the only one on the European mainland. Always helping out others. Jan developed the universal tuning that was later promoted by Jeff Newman.
My condolences to Jan's wife Trudy and his relatives and friends. _________________ ----------------------------------

Oh no, that is sad. Although I knew that he had health issues, it is always tough to read the final news.
Jan was truly one of a kind, a great player, a fine builder and an overall nice guy.
My heartfelt condolences to Trudy and the family!

Sorry to hear that, Marco. I visited Jan in the 90s (I think with Johan). Jan was very gracious. Yes, he built steels: deVis, right? Condolences also to Trudy. |
