I have, Nerv.
An Ultratone just like this one with exactly THAT case was my second "real" steel guitar.
The Ultratone was NO "cheap" or student model or BR-9!
As little competitive in looks an UT may look t today's eyes, compared to sunburst bound EHs and Console Grandes, these were instruments I would put up next to a Frypan or pre-War B-Rickenbacher any time (and I AM a Ricky fan)!
Those guitars have an extremely hot sounding pickup. Some sort of a pre-P90 (but NOT the same as the later famed GUITAR P90. They LOOK the same, but aren't).
I remember, we called my UT "The Blower", "The Fan" and other names, because it would sound so electric and direct, so present, it would "torch" about anything else off the stage.
IF I wouldn't already own two, I'd buy them on the spot.

You just don't expect to see a Neon Genesis Evangelion reference on the Steel Guitar Forum. Whoa is right! |

Agree with J D; those old white Ultratones (and the black Century's too) with the maple body and the racetrack pickup just bark. Not as sweet as a B-6, but close.
Both of Sanjay's guitars are gorgeous. You don't see those models anywhere near that nice very often. |

Sanjay seems to have a knack to find rare and mint condition steels.
Interesting to learn about the "cover " for the case.
He is a great guy to do business with. |

Hey, Sanjay!
What does the extra knob do? As I understand it, it's some sort of tone sweep (whatever that means!). Can you explain it? And are the electronics on both guitars all original and perfectly functioning?
Thanks and best of luck selling these two beautiful guitars!! _________________ Remington Steelmaster S8 w/ custom Steeltronics pickup. According to the Duchossoir book: "...an innovative three-control circuitry designed to broaden the spectrum of its tonal response. The volume control was supplemented by two tone controls with different frequency cuts, thanks to their wiring and different capacitors of 0.02MFD and 0.001MFD."
The simple answer is that it's another tone control. The Ultratone, Century, and some postwar Gibson consoles share a similar circuit. |
