Enjoyed seeing you again. I look forward to hearing your first peformance at Joliet or elsewhere.
I did not play well this year.IMO My concentration was terrible and the distractions were sufficient to affect my playing.
Well sometimes you have a bad guitar day, just as you may have a bad golf day.
I will hope that next year is better.

Just wanted to let all the non pedalers know I've got a freebie TAB and real instrument Back Track (acoustic guitar, sythn, drums and bass) available on my site at this address:

It's a lap steel instrumental arrangement of the Gospel classic I'll Fly Away
Mp3 tracks available on the page include one of me playing the TAB then going into an improv, then there's a mp3 track of just the backing band, sans melody so you can try it out.
Save it to your computer and Jam with it while learning a great song,

Hi there,
Is there a good resource - online or in a book where I could find a breakdown of different scales and chords in c6 tuning for an 8-string fender nonpedal? I can't seem to find any resources that would get me started.
I'm wondering how people did this before the internet! It seems somewhat daunting as a beginner.
Any pointers would be fantastic! |

I know most of us don't think of electric and acoustic as being compatable. But the Mike Auldridge website has a great DVD for 8 string resonator that will fill your need nicely. It covers both C6 and G6/A6 as well as C9. I highly recommend it.

Hi Andy,
I know your post was some months ago now but I have taught myself all the things you mention by using the software TonalAlchemy. You can enter any tuning you want and print out scales or chords. I think it is about $15 but it is the best value I have found for self teaching.
You can choose intervals or names of the notes.

I hope some on can help me,i am goingt to try open E tuning w/benders on 2&3.Any tabs or recomendation??,I have been working with C6 on 8str up til now.Is there a chord chart available for open E??Carl Thanks in advance

I have a Tele plus telecaster, Larrivee acoustic. Also have a Fender resonator guitar with new Quarterman cone and spider, and an Allan tailpiece .Playing through a Fender Super Champ XD, using a little delay on the amp and a Harmonix Holy Grail Echo pedal, set on Hall turned to about 1pm.Just Bought a Yamaha FGX5 Recently and love it. Recently got a Sho-NUFF 6 string pedal steel in open G.Still learning. |

Carl: I won't promise any thing but let me check an old binder I have with a bunch of stuff in it. I have my 8 string tuned to an E tuning but lake all players we all do some modification now and then, that's why I qualified my statement "E" tuning. Back to your question I'll see if I have any thing.
Just read you post again and I missed 6 string. Not a problem.
Well I did fine something, most of what I have is "C6" but here is the common "E" tuning for 6th string Lap Steel. BOTTOM UP [E,A,D,G,B,E]Some use[E,B,E,G#,B,E]
I use [B,C#,E,G#,B,E] Which is string 6 to 1 on my 8 string [E,G#,B,C#,E,G#,B,E] |

Hello Brad, Hope im using the right part of the forum for my query, just signed up a day ago, learning lap steel c6th tuning.
I came across Greg Cutshaw's version of Kansas City, where he had posted a short sample of his TAB for this tune. My question is where can I obtain the full TAB. Im prepared to pay for it.
Beyond that any suggestions for improving my playing, ie picking, pick blocking, setting up the sound. I use a Gretch 5700 with a Roland micro cube for practice.

Thanks for your prompt response, actually I had found this link earlier but was not able to source the rest of the KC TAB, but I may email Greg Cutshaw directly instead. I will continue to drop in from time to time to get used to the system and the content.
