I have long had a particular affinity for this song...and Larkin Poe does a really nice version of it! It's done in their quasi-acoustic duet style...if you enjoy that, their 2020 album "Kindred Spirits" is a whole album of covers done that way. Anyway, wanted to pass this one on. Megan is using her Beard signature model...

Megan is the real deal. I saw Larkin Poe in February in San Francisco at the historic original Fillmore. They rocked the joint big time and shook some of the ghosts out of those old walls.
Speaking of Choctaw Hayride since it is a Jerry Douglas tune, Megan would be the first to tell you that she is doing what she does today because of Jerry. He inspired her to take up dobro as a kid and later of course she transitioned to standup with a strap lap steel. _________________ Mark |

I really like them. I had the luck to see them in Budapest a few years back, and this year they are coming again in June for the Harley Davidson Festival. They are the main reason I picked up my lap steel. It's quite a recent purchase, and I never really played any kind of guitar before, so it's a long way to learn, but it's a really fascinating instrument. Megan is really good. Usually when I watch her play, I just find myself repeating some parts countless times. |

Seem to be doing some more of these lately! This one is "Killing Me Softly".

I like that open string thing she did at the end of the solo break. Very musical, built up the tension back into the chorus. _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling
