Hey kids,
Just got a really nice D-8 Guyatone HG-188C, faux Stringmaster off Reverb, but from a forum member. Sweet! Plays great, sounds real good. But I have a question about the pickups. If, for some reason, I end up wanting to replace the stock ones, will typical Stringmaster repro pickups fit, without modding? If not, will anything else? They sound great.....but you know how it goes.
Thanks!

Awhile back I worked on one of these for a customer. Stringmaster pickups don’t fit the pickup cavity so I made a custom bobbin to fit.
The dual pickup neck should work in phase when on together.
If I remember correctly you would raise the pickups using foam. I have some pics somewhere that I can dig up if needed.
Hope this helps.
These are really great sounding guitars with their own unique sound.

I've never seen a guitar like that with two pickups on one neck and only one on the other.
I wonder what the reason for that was?

Maybe to have access to a bunch more frets for folks who like it up there? |

All the Guyatones double necks I’ve seen have 2 pickups on the front and one on the back. These are great sounding steel consoles! |
