This morning my aunt called to tell me my uncle Tommy Vollmer passed. Tommy was 88 he started playing steel when he was 12. Today we lost another great steel player and I lost a hero. Tommy will be missed. |

One of our heroes is now with his heros, on equal footings. R.I.P. Tommy, it won't be the same without you! |

I only met Tom once at the PSGA show in Norwalk a few years ago, though I can't say I knew him, he was a nice man and I had known of his history and was very impressed with the contributions he made to the steel guitar community in the Pennsylvania area.
My condolences are offered to his family, friends and Forum members who knew him and benefitted from his life, hopefully we can live up to his legacy!
RIP Tom _________________ Regards, Craig

My best friend for 50 years. He always found time for me in my formative years and throughout the rest of the 50 year friendship, as busy as he could be with his pattern shop, "Vollmer Patterns", his band "the Outlaws" and of course, his wonderful family. Best man at my wedding. Always responded, "come on up Wal", when my adjustments on Emmons push pulls was not quit right. We attended many Scotty's St. Louis Conventions together. It's so hard to fathom the "Legend" is gone. Tommy was the most unselfish person I ever met, always willing to get a beginner off the ground. When my mind is right, I'll post some great stories about this wonderful human being. _________________ Bruce from Arizona these days
