Depth and Expand knobs

What are the switches on an Evans set for compared to an Evans with the Depth and Expand knobs? For example would the switches be set for wide open or less?

In the interest of this thread, I would like to know what the filter/electronic functions of these switches are?

BTW, I usually play with both on with my Evans preamp.

But it still doesn't tell the point the switches are set at in relation to the pots.
