RIP b0b! So many have spoken better than me. He created this steel guitar family that has informed, taught and entertained us for decades! I certainly wouldn't have had such a rich experience with my music and steel playing without this forum. I've felt like I've known many of you without having met in person, and it's always sad when someone passes. I'm very grateful for all b0b has done for us! _________________ Jackson Pro-IV D-10, Fender Dual-Pro 8, Epiphone Zephyr-6 |

Bob built it;
and, they came!
What A Legacy!
My deepest condolences to the Lee Family.
To Bob’s daughters:
I just found myself smiling
and remembering your dad telling me
about his girls - and how much
Aqua Net Hairspray he’d bought in his lifetime.
I loved Bob’s sense of humor!!!
He loved his family!
Rest in Peace, dear Friend! _________________ Donna Dodd

The sensible,, informed, and thoughtful conversation of the Steel Guitar Forum is the direct result of the man who created it. Continuing in that spirit may be our best tribute. This forum is the legacy of a visionary. _________________ Undoubtedly the finest pedal steel player in Paris' 18th Arrondissement

This is so sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. But I'm glad there are already plans in place to keep his legacy going by keeping this site up and running. It's became such a big part of many of our lives.
Rest in peace B0b. Thanks for all you've done! _________________ Rob Harmon

OMG. Stunned.
I've been on the internet since Arpanet and B0B is the best person I ever met on it. The web is a colder place today.
B0B's brainchild is one of the things I treasure, and I am certain that thousands of people feel the same way. B0b's loved ones can take solace in knowing how many people he touched with his creation and how much happiness it brought them.
I offer my sincere condolences to B0B's loved ones and am sending my prayers for your peace and comfort.
RIP B0B. You are missed.

I’m overwhelmed with gratitude when I read all of your posts. I’m so glad my dad was part of such an amazing community of people. You all are very special.
My dad knew that he didn’t have long left to live, and he spent his last few months teaching his daughters how to run things. In his final days, he was thinking of you, the members. So, we are now prepared. We also still have our wonderful moderators. So, the forum lives on, just how Dad (aka b0b) envisioned.
He died very peacefully, and kept his sharp mind and his sense of humor until the very end.
I just wanted to share that with you all. |

I don’t know what to say.
I never met him in person, but we communicated every couple of years. I felt “connected”, he seemed to know me and so many of that world wide group he created.
Nobody has united steel guitarists than him. Not even youTUBE, TikTok or Facebook! Yes, we are a “niche”, but what he achieved should be not only part of steel guitar history, but of the history of the good the Internet can do.
While this day was to be a great one for me, discovering his passing is saddening.
He’s touch so many of or lives.
THANK YOU, SIR!… JD. Sauser _________________ __________________________________________________________

Many times when I thought I might be getting it all wrong b0b would inject his support just at the right moment. He had great skill for and sensitivity to the needs of the steel community which is rare and will be difficult to replace. An exceptional man for sure. _________________ Williams 700 Keyless U12 |

Rest In Peace b0b. Such a unique man - he took his interests in steel guitar and the nascent internet, combined them, and cast them like a stone into still water... may the ripples continue forever.
Sincerest condolences to the Lee family. |

My deepest condolences. I’m a new player, having gone from lap steel to pedals in the last year, and b0b’s tireless maintenance and collection of resources and general information has been invaluable in beginning to find my way. I realize that us younger players have a rich heritage to build off of, a part of which is undoubtedly all that b0b has done for the community and providing it a welcoming gathering place. |
