Any available anywhere? Especially interested in a metal replacement for the plastic. (This will be my third!)

Out of curiosity, how are these getting broken? In transit, placing another amp on top.

I think that vent on top was a bad idea. I was doing an outside gig last fall, and it started to rain. That vent is an open path into the chassis. Luckily my amp cover was close by, and we got it covered before the fireworks 🎆 started.

Gigging. I never put anything on top. It's been broke for a few years now, finally getting the metal one.

Somthing had to have hit it. I might get the metal one just in case.

The question was how do they break? My take is that the plastic is quite brittle and can't take the stress of moving it around like the wood cabinet can. All of mine start with cracks around the corner screws and eventually just fall away.

Makes sense. Another of Peavey's stupid decisions for this amp. Great amp though.

Yes, Richard, great amp, a couple of bad details: 1) the vent cover; 2) exposed, breakable knobs.

Clyde, the plastic is indeed brittle, and there is not really enough "meat" around the screw holes. They are very close to the edge of the piece itself. If I were getting a new one, I'd at least put washers under the screw heads.

I would think that a good idea would be to drill out the screw holes larger (risky in itself) and not tighten the screws down tight to give a little more relief when moving the amp.

Of all the Peavey amps I’ve owned with the top vent cover (Session 400 Limited, Session 2000, PX300 & Nashville 112), I’ve always backed the screws out of them about a half turn or a little less, never experienced a cracked corner, not yet anyhow. If I ever needed a new vent cover, I would definitely purchase one of Ron’s stainless steel covers.

I've been putting off getting the steel cover for years. Got it ordered, looking forward to it!
