I have a very unusual dobro. I know the neck and fingerboard aren't original. The body appears to be original. It's an Oahu I know the decal is real but HAD to be removed from another instrument. The best way I can describe the body shape looks a lot like an old Gibson Everly brothers. I have had people tell me that yes, Oahu did have square neck resonators. Can anyone prove this?
BTW. The guitar HONKS!!!

I've been trying to find out more about which specific models Oahu had available since I bought an Oahu squareneck a while back. So far I haven't found a catalog of their offerings from any time period. It does seem like the Oahu acoustics I've seen are made by either Kay or Harmony, while the electric steels were made by Valco.

A friend of mine has one and we did a search and found out the guitars were made in Cin. Ohio. If i see him i will ask him again because i have about forgot but i think his was from the early 30,s.

Brad: The later electric steels were made by Valco, but the earlier ones - the wood-bodied instruments most people associate with the Oahu name - were all made by Kay, as far as I know.

As I seem to recall (the late) Norm English, who was closely associated with Oahu, mentioned Kay as being the maker of most of the student acoustic round hole models. I'm not overly sure of the electric ones, however I think Ian has a good handle on it.

Lyle Bradford sent me this link to some Oahu guitars which may be of interest to some.
My own guitar is like the model pictured on the second page (More Oahu's).
Anybody have a catalog they'd like to share?
