what was the original tempo, BPM, of Steel Guitar Rag ,and what speed do you play.

I think most of the steel guitar "originals" we're familiar with put it around 90-100 bpm. Seems like the more modern pedal players play (or played) it around 110-120, and I usually played it there, or a little faster. The song it's based on, "Guitar Rag" (by Black bluesman Sylvester Weaver) was probably the slowest at around 70-80 bpm, though his timing gained some speed as he went on. Laughing

I always played it "Bluegrass speed" (fast).

Steel Guitar Rag and Wipeout as fast as possible to get it over with. Laughing
Bob White had the right idea when he combined the two and came up with Steel Guitar Wipeout.
