When I change my strings my Grover tuning keys at the keyhead are loose. Is it OK to use a glue substance on the threads to keep them from loosening so easy?

(Or is this just something to get used to and comes with the territory of playing the instrument?)

If some of you use thread glue what would you recommend?.. that is not permanent and doesn't interfere with the keys or make them hard to remove? Thanks

On some key heads the tuner shaft housing is long for the counter bore on inside of key bar. The nut will not tighten. I have found Washers on the shaft under the nut sleeve, So they will tighten snug and hold the keys solid.

If you use any thread lock, do not use permanent thread lock. Loctite is the brand most of us recognize. If you go that route, use Loctite blue color. It is easily removable with hand tools. I have used it many times on guitar jacks and knobs that would not remain tight. I see no problems with using it to secure your tuning keys, as long as they fit correctly and can be tightened.
