I was visiting a friend yesterday and he showed me this old round neck resonator he got many years ago. He ask me to help determine make and year. I could find no markings on it whatsoever. My first guess was a Regal, but not really sure. Can anyone help me identify it? [/img] |

Check for an actual cone in the guitar. That'll be a first clue.

Hi Howard,
Yes, I have seen a few with a faux or no resonator, but this guitar does have one. Also a spider bridge configuration. |

Tough to tell without better photos but a guess would be a Regal Mod 19. Can't tell if that's a 12 fret or 14 fret neck.
So..That's my guess.

Yep, I agree with Howard, model 19. Sometimes you'll see that one named Angelus, it's from the mid '30s.
Cool guitar, looks like it's in good shape.

Thanks guys! I’ll pass along the info. Howard, it joins the body at the 12th fret. Did regal make unbranded guitars, or did the logo on this just go missing? |

There are a lot of Regal- and Dobro-built resonators out there with no identifying marks. Sometimes you can see where a decal flaked off, but often they just left the factory with nothing on the headstock. |

Replacement decals for Dobro and Regal are available on eBay and Etsy if you're friend wants one, either one would look right at home on it. |

The separation of the round hole at each end of the f would indicate a Regal- 19 DoBro from the nineteen thirties as does the resonator. |
