My Gold Tone resophonic guitar has a pickup that requires an auxillary pre-amp . I can't use my wireless transmitter by plugging strait into the guitar jack, I have to plug it into the external pre-amp . What type of a pickup would enable me to plug straight into the jack on my guitar.

Curious as to which pickup you currently have installed.. Are you getting any output at all from the guitar?

I run wirelessly from all of my guitars that are equipped with the Fishman "Nashville"resonator guitar pickup to a Fishman "Jerry Douglas Aura" imaging pedal. Works flawlessly.

This would be the Schertler Basik coupled with the small preamp.

Ahhhh...

The reso/dobro Schertler that I'm most familiar with really isn't really a pickup as such. It's a transducer which had a required power supply/pre. This is similar to a condenser mic requiring phantom power. I recently looked and did not see where they were available any more.

I think that any commonly available dobro/reso pickup, either piezo or magnetic would drive a wireless rig just fine.
