Yes; the Sho~Bud with just “PRO~II” on front is indeed the very first series of Pro II. It came out early 1973(maybe last month of '72 and it was basically identical to “THE PROFESSIONAL” in every way; same body; same changer EXEPT the PRO~II had crossbars with two-hole Pullers to pull the Barrel tuners and NOT RACKS.
Then when they found to add a raise to the Changer fingers; then they started using “Nylon Tuners” and fixed the rods to the pullers…and that was late 1974 and body changed a little smaller and became “THE PRO~II CUSTOM”…..and on from there….

Dennis I don't know anything about The Sho~bud named company when Gretch took it over after it closed mid 80's. The years you are talking about is NOT Sho~bud manufacturing years; it is only whatever the hell Gretch did with the Name "Sho~Bud" that they own.
Do you have pictures of a serial number 1988-9 Sho~Bud top and bottom?? lets see it; and what are you wanting to know about it???

The Pro III was a Custom. I bought one in '75. It had split coil pickups. 4x8.
