Hi,
Does anyone know if Goof-Off Pro Strength is safe on mica from the 60’s?
Thanks! |

Goo-Gone is my go to, For removing Tape, Stickers and Velcro from Formica guitars. Keep whatever you use away from seams in the Formica. I worry about the cleaners loosening the glue that holds the Formica To the guitar. |

Tim, I've used WD-40 with good results removing stick-ons. Don't use it to lube a steel though!
Good luck..

I do not know if it would be safe to use on laminate from the 1960's but I have gone through many gallons of it on modern laminates with good success. |

We keep a bottle of citrus-based Goo Gone Original handy. It works well and smells good.

Amen!
The only reason I keep any WD-40 in my garage is for loosening things and cleaning stuff...including my hands.

Thanks Gents!
I heard from Goof-Of that they don't recommend it for formica.
I'll give WD40 a shot.
Cheers! |

I used to use butter to take stuff like this off but butter got so expensive I just leave the goo there. _________________ I don't know much but what I know I know very well.

Use naphtha from your hardware store. It won't hurt anything....glue joints, mica, lacquer, enamel, varnish.

I concur. In a pinch, Ronsonol (or Zippo fuel) will work fine, too. Basically the same as naptha, just more expensive. |
