That link isn't working, but the event on the Mike Douglas Show from the early 70s is well documented. E.g., here doing Memphis Tennessee - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F5hv8hgLCE. Yikes, it may seem funny 50 years later, but I wouldn't find that hilarious if I was in the band! |

I believe you're right, Dave.
Helen Keller would have walked out on that performance. |

Dave's link isn't the REAL performance, but rather an edited spoof if you will.
I *think* this is the real one.
Yoko starts contributing at about 1:55.
I didn't watch the whole thing.
I think at some point the sound man cut her mic off.

That looks like it probably is, in fact, the live video. There are various ones out there. I found it hard to tell which one(s), if any, are unedited. But I did watch that link all the way through, and if it's the real one, they definitely cut the mic on Johnny B. Goode.
Regardless of which one is real, my comments are the same. I am open to lots of things, but this kind of thing is just something you don't do onstage under any circumstances. I found it amazing that Chuck didn't have a much stronger reaction. But I think he genuinely liked John. |

Yoko must have learned her vocal skills from watching a cat fight!

Yoko is accomplished in the ancient art of Projectile Vocals. _________________ A banjo, like a pet monkey, seems like a good idea at first. |

Yoko was (and still is) an acquired taste.
For some good yuks, check out her cameo on The Rolling Stones Rock & Roll Circus. |

I think the engineer who cut that mic was one of the great live, on the fly decisions in television. |

I was in eleventh grade at the time of this show and walked home fast from High School to make sure I didn't miss The Mike Douglass show that week. This clip was very dissapointing! Never a fan of Yoko is was. Yeah , Rock and Roll Circus clip was lame too with Yoko. If you want to wallow in self torture look up the 1970 Toronto show on Youtube. If I remember correctly Yoko was wailing while shrouded in a plastic bag! The band had Lennon plus Clapton in it.

I kind of regret posting this. John and Chuck are gone and Yoko just turned 90. When you watch "Get Back", the Beatles documentary that was out last year, Yoko didn't really seem to be much of a factor in their creative lives but Paul's contributions, leading the band and organizing the music, were revelatory. Ultimately, that's all more interesting than this stuff. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |

It's best to find a company through recommendations and to ask in advance at what price everything can turn out. |
