hope this is ok to ask:
is $600 a decent deal for a supro 53 dual six string lap steel? seller indicates only tuners have been changed but may mean buttons. two extra fretboards included. thanks,

Not a Valco expert by any stretch, but I would opine that's not a bad price if everything works. Especially with the brittle plastic pickup/bridge covers (and their fasteners) both intact. |

MOT, "Mother of Toilet Seat" finish was only around for about five years due to the danger of fire the process would impose. I would think the value will only increase.
I have the single neck version - string through pick sounds great. |

Valco did MOTS wraps for about twenty years. Maybe not on this model, but they had pearloid wraps from the early '40s to the early '60s.
But I agree that the price is reasonable. Not a steal, but reasonable. |

I believe it's common to have to replace tuner buttons. And it has a functioning case! If it sounds good, then I'd say it's a fair deal. |

Is the steel by any chance located in Puerto Rico?
Reason for asking, is that I sold an almost identical 1953 Supro to a gentleman in Puerto Rico many years ago, and thought this might be the same one. _________________ Some songs I've written |

I agree with everyone, that's a fair price. A double six would be cool to have, I've got a single six of that, a Comet, and it sounds great. |
