I stumbled on this video of Dan Schafer while he was backing Becky Hobbs.
Monster sustain on that beautiful MSA.
Dan seems to be another "Roy Clark" in the way of mastering numerous instruments.
He's got quite an impressive resume.

I remember Dan playing in the house band @ Nashville Palace. He was on 6 string then.Great musician . Maybe around mid 80's.I think the band was fronted by Steve Hill on bass. They rocked. |

Dan is a great player. He could be the headliner, the bass player, the lead player or as here, the steel player - and do them all well. I use to see him in the mid 70's in Michigan as The Dan Schafer Group. |

I used to play in this group and lived with Dan Schafer in Dearborn. Dan is still in Nashville, and he no longer plays steel. However if you're ever through the Nashville Airport look for him.
