I need this for a show, so I decided to install two clamping devices (borrowed from a Don Blood pad, thanks Don) on a Marrs/Fluger Catcan.

Works nicely, and all that is needed to install or remove is a 1/4"Allen key.

Going to use a standard A/B box to switch from steel to dobro for now.

Now that's a cool and useful accessory with a simple setup. Nice job Mike.

Thanks Larry. I was just setting it on top of the steel, but I found that it was raised too high to be comfortable.

It sits at a nice height now. These Fluger/Marrs Catcans are the bees knees. 🐝

Sound clip of Fluger/Marrs Catcan -

These are great "on the job dobros" that you can run right into your amp, and XLR from amp into board.

If you ever see one for sale, I highly recommend getting it. Perfect for getting a nice dobro sound on a handful of tunes each night.

*** This is not intended to replace a true resophonic guitar. The sole intention is for the pedal steel player to get "dobro" sounds sporadically throughout the course of a gig. WARNING - over playing of this device may result in strong desire to play more dobro than usual, caution is highly advised.***

Sure Chris, but credit must be given to a fellow Californian of yours, Chris Allen Burke RIP. My friend pointed me out to a Super Pro with a custom Fluger/Marrs at GC last year and I purchased it. It was a very well done mod, and I believe Chris had built a few of these.

Electronics -

Well, I am not really big Super Pro fan, and at the time had no need for the dobro sound in the band I was playing in. So it was rehomed.

That is what inspired me when the need arrived. I had purchased this Fluger/Marrs catcan, as I had enjoyed it previously on the Super Pro.

From Chris's post in 2008 -

"Here's one that I modified and use on shows that call for E9 & dobro. The back neck is a Marrs-Fluger reso. The E9 has J. Coop roller fingers as well as some underside parts. It's a 5X5. The dobro has no pedals, sounds very close on a live stage.
I love this guitar, it sounds so good and plays perfectly the way I want. I got a little nervious playing it out so I built another one from a Carter for road travel. I'll check on the serial #. The guitar is in a case right now. But I've owned it for 20 years before the rebuild.
I have since rebuilt 5 Super Pros. Two were so trashed they became SD-10's. 1 is a premium blackey and I am waiting on photos of that one."
