A Question-
How Strenuous is it to Convert Push/Pull to an all Pull changer?
Particularly ¨Fatbacks¨ - emmones s10s, and d10 that are Push/Pulls or any guitar that is one

Emmons made all pull guitars. I would recommend getting one if you can swing it. Push/pulls are desirable guitars. Im not an Emmons expert but changing to an all pull changer is a big job and your tone will change….my 2 cents…I’m sure you’ll hear from others.

What Dave is saying very politely is don’t try to do something really stupid.

I'm not an Emmons expert, but as I understand it a push-pull is defined by the mechanism from which it derives its cherished tone. You would be discarding its USP to create a nothing guitar.

You would need new endplates, a new changer and a whole new undercarriage. If you succeed, it will cost you well into four figures and you will simultaneously reduce the value of the guitar by at the very least 50 percent. So please don't.

Probably cheaper to just buy an all pull.

I've a friend who had access to a single 10 wrap around in which Bobbe Seymour "converted it" to an all pull. Totally ruined the guitar for what it was. It sounded "ok" looked like crap with the "modifications he made, was a Frankensteel for sure" had tuning issues, in addition to everything parts. Instead of converting or modifying just buy you an all/pull and keep your piece of history intact IMO.

It is really easy. Just sell your push pull and get a short keyhead LeGrande, which is a LeGrande built on a push pull cabinet.

Paul Franklin (Sr) converted one for Buddy Emmons. Used Franklin changers and not sure what all underneath. Paul told me Buddy loved it. This was during the EMCI time and according to Paul, Buddy took it to the EMCI shop and told them to make the EMCI sound like the Franklin conversion.

Don't do it. It will no longer sound like a push pull.

I played that guitar several times at Buddy's house. It sounded more like a Franklin than an Emmons.
