Greetings.... I am trying to find out what diameter the changer axles are on Zum guitars. Also, did Bruce change this over the years or with different models? Any input would be appreciated. If you do have an answer, the model and rough vintage might be useful too. Thanks

3/8 in. square cross shafts, at least from '80 on Professional models, possibly earlier. I defer to Bruce, but perhaps the very earliest models of the 70s may have used round shafts.
I have no experience with the student and intermediate models, so I defer to the more knowledgeable. |

Hi Jerry. Thanks very much for your reply. What I am looking for though is the diameter of the round shaft running through the fingers of the changer and not the shafts that carry the bell-cranks. I do appreciate your taking the time to reply to my inquiry never the less.

Oh, my mistake. Didn't read thoroughly. Bruce is a member here. You might send him a message. |

Changer shaft on the mid 80's models was 1/2" (.500) I have a changer on my bench right now.

Barry, are you sure that is 1/2" and not 9/16"? |

Bruce,
It's only a 1/16" difference, it's close enough... _________________ Co-owner and operator: Emmons Guitar Co. |

To clerafy the changer I have is from mid to late 80's and is a 12 string changer 3 up and 3 down I checked the shaft and it measures at 5/8" (.625) so I missed it bu a full 1/8" sorry about that.
