There is a strange listing on reverb claiming to be a Emmons LL 10/6 Basketweave (although with black top, not baskeweave). Pictures are sketchy as is the claim. I understand these steels are rare as hens teeth. Anyone have any thoughts on this one? scam? https://reverb.com/item/64495948-emmons-ll-10-6-basketweave

Mike "Cookie" Jones, who played for Barbara Mandrell, did indeed have a Basket Weave Emmons. Looks legit. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . at that price, you'd think he would include some actual photos of the guitar. _________________ 1965 Emmons S-10, 3x5 • Emmons LLIII D-10, 10x12 • JCH D-10, 10x12 • Beard MA-8 • Oahu Tonemaster |

That definitely looks like Mike's basketweave guitar. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Playing for 55 years and still counting. |

A gentleman on the "Emmons Pedal Steel Guitar Fans" Facebook page named Jim Fox posted three weeks ago that he had bought this guitar from Cookie's widow. Had one of the same photos he sent you, Bill, and a picture of the copedent paperwork dated 2008.
You have to expand all the hidden comments and replies to really follow the discussion here (and yes, he posted the wrong picture on his opening post of a different basketweave before he had actually received the steel -- which was pointed out and explained later):
https://www.facebook.com/groups/652555505255518/#
He's a forum member, lives in the same town listed on the Reverb.com page, and has posted once here saying he was a new player and was asking questions about an MCI. He may be a legit player, he may be a flipper, or something else. But either way, I do think he has Cookie's old guitar -- or at least is in possession of photos of it. One detail that makes me say that is that it has a knee lever flag on RKR (it's folded in the picture), same one visible on this Mandrel video of Cookie's guitar:

We'll learn that he has the guitar in his possession when he posts additional custom photos of it from specific angles requested by somebody. Like, say, a close-up of that paper label on the inside of the cabinet. |

Karl Fox is the one I've been communicating with. Also with the same copedent pictures. |

The internet (which is never wrong... heh) says his full name is Carl James Fox.
So, if he's "Karl" with a "K" to you, "Carl" with a "C" elsewhere, and Jim on the Forum and on the Emmons Facebook page, what's up with that? If he bought it to flip, that's fine. There's no reason to hide identity. |

There is something wrong about the whole sale. If you have such a rare instrument, why not take decent pictures if you are going to try and sell it. Karl Fox told me his daughter sent the pictures to him. Something wrong somewhere.
The listing has now been suspended. |

Maybe it got suspended for lack of photos. Anyway. Too weird for my blood. It could be legit, but too many red flags for me. |

Not yet, Bill. After a good while on Universal, I’ve gone back to mostly SD-10 on gigs and sessions.
