Hi everybody,
This is my first posting here.
My name is Rich Arnold. I'm playing a 1957ish (so I'm told) Fender D8 with a G6th tuning. (Same interval steps as the A6th) I'll explain that weird tuning later for anybody who is curious about it. I'm originally from New York State but have been in Nashville since 1992.
I almost didn't post anything because there are so many heavy hitters in here! What could I possibly add that would be interesting?! Well, I figured it's sorta hard to go wrong with a Bob Wills tune. Hope you all like it.
Please excuse the clams since I have no way to edit video. Also my shrunken t-shirt. The climate is horrid here in the summer. Laughing
Hope you enjoy it and let me know if there is anything in particular from me ya'll would like to be flowing in your ear canals.
Thanks for bringing me on board and for Bill McCloskey and Stephhen Cowell for guiding me over here.

Great to have you here Rich. I watched with interest your Jazz Dobro playing that Bill kindly shared with us. Great to see that style being explored on this instrument and beautifully played. Also I enjoyed watching this western swing playing in your D8. You are an excellent player Rich in my opinion. I personally love to watch players playing so a very warm welcome to the forum. Mike

Welcome! I have seen many of your excellent dobro videos. Since I started as a dobro player I also use G6. I figure you can always move the bar up or use a capo! Haha.

Glad you are here Rich!

I'm trying to figure out if I'm inspired to practice after hearing you, or motivated to have a bonfire with all my lap steels! Very Happy

Welcome, Rich!

If we could get forum activity back to levels it used to be instead of Facebook, etc, I think it would be great. The information that is shared here lasts a long time as opposed to the fleeting nature of FB and is a valuable resource when you are seeking specific information. We need substantial posts on playing, gear, etc.

Hi David. Glad you dig my music. I felt like throwing mine in the river a few times. For a long while, I couldn't seem to get any music, but I couldn't leave it alone either. It's a weird thing.

Rich, between you and Eddie Alkire, it seems my mission in life is to shine a light on overlooked geniuses, to make up for my lack of musical genius.

I'm your Salieri my friend. Destined to recognize genius without possessing it. But I'm happy in that role.

keep posting, keep posting here, tell people what you do and how you do it, and you'll have an audience my friend.

Welcome aboard, great playing on your StringMaster. Curious about the darkness between the end of your fretboard and your pickups, similar to something I saw on Alvino Reys Fenders Question
